Drowning in Details

 October 10, 2014

I’ve been drowning in details this week, details associated with self-publishing as well as the details that are part of everyday life (feeding the dog, laundry, groceries, meal prep and dishes).

As I’ve been preparing to publish my next novel, I’ve been busy going over the copy-edit numerous times, making changes suggested by my editor and other readers, as well as assigning an ISBN number and formatting the pages for final copy. It’s tedious and time consuming but necessary. I’ve also been getting ready for selling my book at craft fairs this October and November, setting up a business account with pay pal, checking to make sure I have enough books and handouts.

I’ve been reading the numerous emails on marketing and publishing that arrive in my box each day as I try to learn the “business.” And, I updated my about page, following suggestions by blogger, Jeff Goins. (Check it out and let me know what you think https://patriciamrobertson.com/about/.)

Details such as these have a way of eating away at any creative juices I have left. I have read my psalm for this week, Psalm 67, and the commentary, but simply haven’t been able to come up with a cohesive reflection for this psalm. Guess it will have to wait till next week.

Do details ever get the better of you? What do you do when this happens?
