Come, Lord Jesus

Advent – Season of Hope

“Come, Lord Jesus,” she remembered teaching her children to sing as preschoolers as she lit the Advent wreath.  It had been such a struggle to maintain some semblance of order for even five minutes, much less a semblance of prayer.  She wondered, had it been worth the hassle, the struggle of resistant children more interested in fighting over who got to blow out the candle than praying.

“Mom, I just put up my Advent wreath,” her daughter calls to tell her.  Her first Advent wreath in her first home as a married woman.  The tradition continues. It had been worth it!

During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.         Luke 1:39-40
