The Promise of Winter
Christmas – Season of Promise
Why is it the old year ends and the new year begins in the midst of winter? Why not celebrate the New Year in spring when life bursts forth anew? Winter is the season of dying, not of rebirth, yet each December we celebrate the birth of a baby.
Amid the snow and cold and barrenness of winter, new life teems, waiting for the greening of spring. Through the dreary darkness, through the many changes of our lives, only one thing remains forever: God’s unfailing love for us and the new life God’s love brings.
And the world with its seductions is passing away but the (person) who does God’s will endures forever. 1 John 2:17
