Experiencing Joy!

 January 2, 2017

Christmas – Season of Promise

My baby is born and my joy is complete. Will I ever experience greater joy than that of today?

Daily he masters new skills and tricks–a twitchy smile, a purposeful crawl, “Mama.” For this purpose I was born–to prepare for his arrival, to carry him in my arms until he can carry himself. My joy is complete.

My son graduates today, and my joy is complete. Will my joy ever be greater than this? Once I carried him in my arms; now he stands tall and erect, able to carry himself and his burdens. My joy is complete, though bittersweet, for I must now step aside as he stand in the spotlight, ready to stride forth on his own path.

Someday, he will carry me.

“That is my joy, and it is complete. He must increase while I must decrease.”   John 3:29-30
