Living in the In-Between Times
The tree is down, decorations are stored–all that’s left of Christmas are the memories, both good and not so good. Now comes the “letdown.” Joy over that which went well dissipates, minor disappointments remain to mar my peace. Just plain tiredness catches up with me.
Christmas is over–almost. I’m caught in the limbo between Christmas and Ordinary Time, not quite ready for the ordinary yet relieved to be done with the parties and expectations.
Caught in the holiday letdown, one thing remains: the reason for the season.
God’s love was revealed in our midst in this way: he sent his only Son to the world that we might have life through him. 1 John 4:9
