Moving Beyond Fear
From whence comes this recurring fear–this crippling, paralyzing fear–catching me unaware? Past experiences remind me I have reason to fear. Thus I never permit myself to be too happy; eventually fear will pull me, push me from rosy heights. Because of the past, I fear the future, always expecting disaster to be lurking around the corner.
But blessings have also been part of my past–incredible blessings mixed in with the sorrows. Therefore, I have reason to hope. I believe in the promise of love, of happiness, of freedom from fear.
Love has no room for fear; rather, perfect love casts out all fear. And since fear has to do with punishment, love is not yet perfect in one who is afraid. 1 John 4:18
