Dreaming of Summer

 January 26, 2017

Ordinary Time

As a child I found that the winter passed more easily if I made plans for the summer. Focusing on the fun I would have when it was warm, helped me get through the cold and snow of winter. I would spend my days dreaming of summer vacation.

When my children were little, I would plan a winter weekend in February as a break from the winter routine of work and school. We would go to my parents’ cottage, play in the snow, walk on the frozen lake, and go cross-country skiing. Then I would plan for the summer.

Time passes so much easier when you have something you are looking forward to. Now that I’m older and no longer trapped by a school schedule, I’m free to go away in the winter to escape the cold, yet I still find myself dreaming of the summer.

Some habits are just too good to throw away.

Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.   Joel 3:1b
