Ground Hog Day

 February 2, 2017

Ordinary Time

Oh, to be a ground hog, see my shadow and pull the covers back over my head. I would sleep until spring, feasting on the accumulation of fat from the past year. I would wake up a new, skinnier me! No more trudging through ice and snow to work out or starving myself on vegetables. The fat would melt away while I slept.

Oh, to be a ground hog, and sleep under a comforting blanket of snow. Alas, I am not a ground hog and so I have to get up, get dressed and burrow my way through the snow to my car.

But then, the sun breaks forth, setting the snow alight with sparkling diamonds and I’m reminded, “Winters in Michigan aren’t all bad!”

Happy Ground Hog Day!!!!

Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.  Ephesians 5:14
