Spiritual Dryness

Season of Change – Lent

Life seems so empty, so meaningless. Things that once gave pleasure–hobbies, personal treasure, even friends–seem hollow now: empty, dry as sun-baked sand. I can’t get the taste out of my mouth. I’m in a desert.

Did they change? Did I? Do I need to change?

Lent is no longer an option, but a necessity.

The wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted groan. Stilled are the cheerful timbrels, ended the shouts of the jubilant, stilled is the cheerful harp.   Isaiah 24:7-8
