Looking for a Good Man? St. Joseph
Lent – Season of Change
How desperately we need the example of Joseph, devoted husband, father, worker, for a society where over forty percent of marriages end in divorce. He stands as an example of love and faithfulness in marriage, accepting Mary despite the questionable situation of her pregnancy.
In a society where many children grow up without a father present in their home, he remains a model of what a father is to be. Hard worker, loving his son, teaching him through example what it is to be a man. Our society has a desperate need for more men like Joseph, simple ordinary men, who love their wives and their children. Men who are willing to put the needs of others before their own wants, to sacrifice for their family and their God, in a true Lenten spirit.
Thank you, God, for the many good, unrecognized men who follow Joseph’s example with no thought of reward. Bless our world with more!
Joseph, her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, an anger of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Matthew 1:19-20a
