Birthing Ground – Awaiting Spring

 March 20, 2017

Lent – Season of Change

Dull ache. Pervasive. she hurts, yet she does not feel. Does this emptiness mask emotions she is unable to express, unable to accept?

She doesn’t like what’s happening in her life. She hurts. She’s afraid. What is happening?  Is this the birthing ground of change, of transformation? How long must she wait? How long must she suffer? At least in childbirth she knew it would be over in nine months. But this seems to have no end in sight.

She needs courage to face the birthing. Will she hurt even more than she hurts now?

Will she really be transformed, changed, born anew? Flowers return with the spring, but first they have to break through the soil.

Just as the earth is renewed each spring, she will be renewed, but when, Lord, when?

Thus says the Lord: In a time of favor I answer you, on the day of salvation I help you, to restore the land and allot the desolate heritages, saying to prisoners: Come out!     Isaiah 49:8-9
