It Is Finished . . .
Good Friday
It is finished. What a good feeling, when we come to the end of a project and are able to sit back and say it is done. But are we ever done while on this earth? There is always more for us to do, more projects to start, journeys to undertake. As long as we are on this earth we are never completely done, nor is God done with us.
Jesus proclaims on the cross, “It is finished,” and it was. His time on earth was over. His work in this world is done. He has done what he had been sent to do, now it is our turn. We need to pick up where Jesus left off. We, too, need to live our life fully until its end so that with Jesus we, too, can proclaim, it is finished, when our life is over with no unfinished business left behind no work undone that was ours to do.
Jesus can say it is finished because it was. He did all He was meant to do. Will we be able to say the same?
When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. John 19:30
