Living in the Eye of a Whirlwind
Ordinary Time – Season of Stability
Some people love living in a whirlwind. You never know what’s going to happen next. If there isn’t a crisis to deal with at that moment they will go out and create one. They have difficulty accepting and enjoying the quiet times in their lives when everything is running smoothly.
We all are living in a whirlwind–a time of rapid change. No amount of clinging to the quiet times will keep the whirlwind of change from coming with all of its force. We can’t escape it.
But, if we are wise, we can enjoy the times of peace and quiet when they do come. We can find the eye in the middle of the storm.
A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before Lord–but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake–but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was a fire–but the Lord was not in the fire. 1 Kings 19:11b-12a
