Woman Clothed with the Sun

Ordinary Time – The Feast of the Assumption

Woman among the stars, radiant in her glory. A woman in her fullest potential. That is Mary. So loved as a mother that she merits a special place in heaven, among the stars, the sky as her gown, the stars her adornments. She is the crowning glory of womanhood.

Who was she? She was but a mother. Is there any profession more noble, more important than raising a child to adulthood, nurturing, teaching, leading him or her in right directions and then letting go?

Mary as mother of Jesus receives her rightful reward in heaven. So will all mothers, all women who live out their call to love, be rewarded in this life and the next.

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and her head a crown of twelve stars.      Revelation 12:1
