Appearances Can Be Deceiving
Ordinary Time – Season of Stability
Don’t believe everything you see. Appearances can be deceiving.
There are the ones who exude grace and charm. They maneuver life’s highways with an aura of peace. Nothing, no crisis, no loss, seems to shake them for too long.
There are the ones for whom life is a constant drudgery. Who complain even when good fortune smiles on them. Who seem most comfortable in the middle of misfortune and tragedy.
And there are the ones who appear to have a charmed life. They have everything. Nothing bad ever happens to them.
How little we know.
God gives to each of us in equal proportions, according to our own unique abilities. We each get our own share of life’s tragedies. How we handle them is up to us.
We are afflicted in every way possible, but we are not crushed; full of doubts, we never despair. We are persecuted but never abandoned; we are struck down but never destroyed. Continually we carry about in our bodies the dying of Jesus, so that in our bodies the life of Jesus may also be revealed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
