The Wonders of an Ordinary Day

Ordinary Time – Season of Stability

Why is it so hard to manage the ordinary times of our lives? When in crisis, preparing for that special occasion, or recovering from a tragedy, we know what to do. We keep busy because there’s so much to be done just to keep our head afloat. We long for quiet and reassure ourselves that this, too, will be over someday–that our lives will be manageable again.

Only to find that when that someday happens, we can’t cope. We don’t know what to do. We can’t handle an ordinary day, one without impending doom. We expect another crisis to be right around the corner and when that doesn’t surface, we create one.

Anything to hide from the emptiness inside. To fill our live so that we don’t have to feel what it is to never know an ordinary day and the wonder it can hold.

The heavens proclaim your wonders, O Lord, and your faithfulness, in the assembly of the holy ones.”   Psalm 89:6
