Even the Sparrow
Ordinary Time – Season of Stability
I am a sparrow, plain and brown, small.
I can slip unnoticed into your life and out again.
I am shy.
Do not lunge at me for I will fly away.
But if you patiently wait, I may come and sit on your lap.
I will sing to you with small, hesitant chirps.
I am a sparrow, small and plain.
Don’t send me away.
