Making an Effort to be Thankful
Season of Gratitude
“I’m sorry,” the two fighting boys begrudgingly say; they shake hands under the watchful eyes of the playground supervisor. They don’t truly mean it, of course, but at least the effort was a start. For the moment, the apologies put an end to their fight.
I don’t always have to mean it when I thank God, especially in the face of a world that sometimes seems cruel and unfair. Sometimes just the effort is enough. A willingness to be thankful, a willingness to stop complaining is all I need to start.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to your name, Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night. Psalm 92:2-3
