Celebrating All Things Irish!

 March 12, 2018

The Irish slip jig is set in 9/8 signature time, unusual and a little off balance, like life!

An Irish Slip Step, book four of my Dancing through Life Series, has a new look! I hope you like it!

Around my household, St. Patrick’s Day is a big event. When you marry an Irish man you promise to love, honor and be the des!ignated driver on St. Patty’s Day!

St. Pat’s Day is also a big day because he’s my name sake. I’ve grown to love all things Irish, not just my husband. Irish music, dancing and Celtic spirituality. I’ve visited Ireland twice. On the first trip we stopped at St. Patrick’s mountain, or Crough Patrick. We only stood at the foot of the mountain, but now this picture is the screen saver on my computer and I’ve added climbing it to my bucket list – if my knees hold out!

St. Patrick’s Mountain, County Mayo, Ireland

I also hope to visit St. Patrick’s Purgatorium at Lough Derg some day. I learned about this place while researching for An Irish Slip Step two years ago. I also learned about the history of Northern Ireland, the IRA and Celtic Spirituality. (for more on my research check out these blog posts:  Irish Step Dancing,  1000 Pages of Research,  More Research: How the Irish Saved Civilization.)

My Gift to you for St. Pat’s Day

To celebrate St. Pat’s Day, I’m offering free copies of An Irish Slip Step to subscribers to my newsletter.  Just sign-up below and watch for the next newsletter for your link to download a copy.

By the way, the picture on the bottom of my web page is me at the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, an amazing natural rock structure.

What would a post on Ireland be without a blessing? Irish spirituality is full of blessing prayers and so I’ll close with one of the most well known:

May the Road Rise Up to Meet You!

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

and rains fall soft upon your fields

 and until we meet again,

 may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Wishing you many blessings!
