Merry Christmas
“On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:6-9
It is Christmas, a time of feasting and celebration, eating rich foods, fine wines and oh, the desserts! Isaiah speaks of a time of celebration. Our time of waiting is over and the Lord has come. This is a future time and now.
Our God of Abundance!
We are so fortunate to live in a time of abundance. Our God, whom the Hebrew nation awaited for centuries has come and changed the world, ushering in a new age.
Our God is not a God of scarcity but a God of abundance. God pours out blessings on his people. When Jesus performed his first miracle, it was a miracle of abundance. He turned water into the finest wine, thus continuing the wedding celebration. Jesus tells us in Luke’s gospel, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.” (6:38) God is not stingy in his gifts to us! Now if he would just do something about those calories.
May you rejoice in the abundance of God’s love this Christmas! Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a time of promises fulfilled in surprising and unexpected ways. The Hebrew people received a savior, a baby born in a simple manger to a carpenter and his wife. He was not what they expected, but he was what they needed, what the world needed and more!
