Grand Hotel – Life is Grand
We all have hopes and dreams for the future, but sometimes it’s great to just enjoy the moment. Life is Grand!
Grand Hotel
We pay to stroll the expanse of the porch that fronts the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, enjoying the view, sitting in one of the many rocking chairs.
Staying in the hotel doesn’t fit our budget right now, but we splurge, paying for this and pretending we are rich, pretending we are in another time period. Mackinac Island invites us to go back in time, to a simpler period without cars or all the electronic devices that seem so essential in this day. We ride in a horse drawn carriage, rent bikes to cycle around the land mass, visit Fort Michilimackinac and enjoy lunch overlooking the straits of Mackinac.
Now we are ready to sit and rock after a long day of walking and sightseeing. We hold hands as we rock and gaze upon the view.
“Someday,” we say. Someday, when the kids are on their own, someday when the house is paid off, someday we will come and stay. For today, we enjoy the moment before taking the ferry back to the mainland and retrieving our children from their doting grandparents.
Someday, but for now, life is Grand.
