Navigating Storms in Marriage
We are in the midst of summer storm season here in Michigan. Some find storms frightening, others exhilarating. Storms in marriage can be terrifying or an opportunity for healing. It all depends on how we look at them.
Storms in Marriage
I love taking a walk during a storm. The raw energy unnerves me and invigorates me. The terrifying power of nature flails away, and I remember who I am—an insignificant human being in the midst of this terrible display of power. At one fell swoop I could be blown away, destroyed. Yet I am not.
When we are in the midst of one of the storms in our life together, our words also have power. We have the power to obliterate each other.
Our real power is in healing. Our energy—electrical as it may be—is best exercised in forgiveness.
