Surrounded by Mountains – Mountain Home, Idaho
“I lift my eyes to the mountains,” has been my prayer over the past few weeks as I’ve been surrounded by mountains in Mountain Home, Idaho. Each morning I enjoyed looking at the mountains in the distance as I walked, praying those words, as well as reflecting on the words, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, our God surrounds us.”
Mountain Home, Idaho
I’ve been babysitting this cutie, my three-month-old grandson, while his father is deployed.
Besides the exercise I’m getting bouncing the baby while on a yoga ball and lifting a thirteen plus pound baby, I’ve been walking two dogs, a husky and a quirky border collie who jumps straight up, arching her back like a cat and runs in circles. This has been my daily view.
I’ve also enjoyed the mountainous terrain of the Rockies on our drive there and back. We took a northern route on our way home, going through the edge of Oregon and Washington to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, then across Montana and North Dakota. We spent an afternoon in Wallace, Idaho, the Center of the Universe. (Wallace is also known for having one of the last bordellos in the US, closing in 1988.)
Surrounded by Mountains
Mountains surround Mountain Home, Idaho, an ever-present back drop to my time here and my trip. Sometimes a haze covers them, making them harder to see. My step-daughter said for the first month or so that she lived here, the haze completely covered the mountains so that she wasn’t aware they were there at all. And I wonder, how often do I treat God like those mountains, not even recognizing that God is there, ever-present, surrounding me with love?
As the mountains surround Mountain Home, may you too be surrounded by God’s love!
Have there been times when you have felt God’s presence surrounding you? I would love to hear about it.
