Angels Among Us
Feast of Guardian Angels, October 2
Angel of God, my guardian dear . . . thus begins the prayer to our guardian angels. The Feast of the Guardian Angels reminds us that there are angels among. The thought that there is an angel watching over each one of us, guiding us in right paths, is a comfort. Like Jiminy Cricket in the Disney version of Pinocchio, this angel is our conscience and our guide.
Whether you believe in angels or not, this angel is still with you, even when you don’t believe. He is there in the wind; she is there in the quiet of night. A messenger from God, linking us to God, part of that supernatural world we cannot understand but which surrounds us anyway.
See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. Be attentive to him and heed his voice. Exodus 23:20-21a
