Showing Appreciation

 November 13, 2017

Season of Gratitude

“All I want is a little appreciation for what I do around here. A ‘thank you’ now and then.”

“Why should I thank you for helping around the house? It’s your responsibility just as much as it’s mine. You’re not helping me out; you’re just doing your share.”

The argument continues; we go nowhere.

Why can’t we get beyond who is responsible for what in this relationship? Why can’t we say a simple “thank you” without worrying who says it first?

Saying “thanks” acknowledges that I am indebted to you, that I am vulnerable and in need for what you can give. It shows appreciation.

Is that so hard?

Through him (then) let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.    Hebrews 13:15
