Six Months of Sun

Ordinary Time – Season of Stability

“Mom, what if the sun stayed out all night?” Nothing like the dog days of summer to elicit questions in young minds!

“That does happen in parts of Alaska. The have six months of sunshine and six months of darkness.”

“That would be weird. I don’t know if I could sleep with the sun out, or play in the dark.”

I’m so glad that the sun rises and the sun sets, all over the course of twenty-four hours, day after day. I’m so glad that God only give us little doses of both sunshine and darkness. Only as much as we can handle each day.

The Lord is your guardian; the Lord is your shade; he is beside you at your right hand. The sun shall not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will guard you from all evil; he will guard your life.     Psalm 121:5-7
